The National Energy Policy by Mr. Wannarat Channukul Minister of Energy Monday, 13 October 2008, consists of five policies, including: enhancing energy security to ensure sufficient energy supply for the country's development and to increase energy self-reliance for the people's well-being (Policy 1); monitoring energy prices to be appropriate, stable and in line with the economic and investment situations (Policy 2); promoting research and development of all forms of alternative energy on a continuous basis (Policy 3); emphasising the creation of energy saving discipline as a national culture and encouraging the Local Administration Organisations to be focal points for disseminating "Energy Saving Culture" (Policy 4); protecting the environment from impact of energy industry, generated by both energy production and consumption processes, as well as promoting the tackling of global warming and supporting the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) (Policy 5).
