The Climate Change Master Plan (CCMP) 2015-2050 laid out the country’s vision to achieve climate-resilient and low-carbon growth in line with sustainable development path by 2050. The CCMP 2015-2050 also specified measures to achieve a set of mitigation, adaptation and capacity building targets. The targets are grouped into three timeframes: Short-term targets (2016), Medium-term targets (to be achieved by 2020) and Long-term targets (to be achieved over the period 2020-2050).
Renewable Energy
RE targets:
The renewable energy and alternative energy development plan’s target is for renewable energy to provide 25% of overall energy consumption within the 10-year span of 2012-2021.
Environment
GHG emissions reduction targets:
Medium-Term (2020) targets include: Reduce GHG emissions from energy and transport sectors by 7-20% by 2021 compared to 2005 (subject to level of international support); By 2021, supply at least 25% of energy consumed from renewable energy sources. --- Long-Term (2020-2050) targets include: By 2030 reduce energy intensity by at least 25% compared to a business as usual scenario.
