The Electricity Grid Code 2018 sets out procedures and principles governing Licensee’s relationship with all Users are set out in the Grid Code. The Grid Code specifies day-to-day procedures for both planning and operational purposes and covers both normal and exceptional circumstances. The Code also sets out the technical requirements to be met by those who are connected to the Transmission System.

1.3. THE PURPOSE OF THIS CODE. (a) The operating procedures and principles governing Licensee’s relationship with all Users are set out in the Grid Code. (b) The Grid Code specifies day-to-day procedures for both planning and operational purposes and covers both normal and exceptional circumstances. (c) This Code also sets out the technical requirements to be met by those who are connected to the Transmission System. (d) It is conceived as a statement of what is optimal (particularly from a technical point of view) for all Users as well as the Single Buyer in relation to the planning, operation and use of the Transmission System. (e) It seeks to avoid any undue discrimination between Users and categories of Users. It should be noted that the holder of the Transmission License is also defined as a User.
