Electricité du Cambodge (EDC) has the honor to inform the public that in accordance with the policy to promote equitable rural electrification coverage by facilitating the population's access to electricity at affordable price for economic, social and household uses, thus contributing to poverty reduction, and to promote and encourage private sector to participate in providing sustainable rural electrification services; EDC has continuously provided grant to the Department of Rural Electrification Fund of EDC (hereinafter referred to as the "REF") in order to continuously implement "Power to the Poor Program by Providing Interest Free Loan". This program is on-going program from 2013 and will also be implemented in 2020. The purpose of this program is to facilitate the poor households in rural areas to have access to electricity for their houses from grid supply by providing interest free loan to meet (i)- costs for the connection fees of the electricity supplier, (ii)- costs for deposit to be deposited with the electricity supplier, (iii)costs for purchase of materials and labor for the installation of wires from the connection point to its house, and (iv)- costs for purchase of materials and labor for the installation of in-house wiring. The amount of this interest free loan shall not exceed 480,000 Riels per household. The interest free loan will be paid back through the electricity supplier in easy monthly installments within 36 months.
