Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority Act, No. 35 of 2007
Regulations made by the Minister of Power and Energy, under Section 67 of the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority Act, No. 35 of 2007, read with paragraphs (d) and (e) of subsection (2) of section 36 of that Act.

Regulations
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Energy Performance Standards of Appliances (Ceiling Fans) Regulations No. 1 of 2012.
2. No person shall import into Sri Lanka or manufacture in Sri Lanka, the ceiling fans as specified in the Schedule hereto which do not conform with the Sri Lanka Standard specified as SLS 1600:2011.
3. The Authority shall have the power to require any importer or a manufacturer of any ceiling fan specified in the Schedule hereto to submit a certificate issued by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, certifying that any ceiling fan imported or manufactured, as the case may be, by such importer or manufacturer, conforms with the star rating as specified in the SLS 1600:2011 to the corresponding model of any ceiling fan, and such certificate shall be admissible in evidence and be accepted as prima facie evidence in proof of the facts contained therein.
4. Every person who imports into Sri Lanka or manufactures in Sri Lanka any ceiling fan specified in the Schedule hereto, shall be required to have an energy label displaying the applicable star rating and conforming to the format, dimensions and size as specified in the SLS 1600:2011 affixed to the ceiling fan and cover, wrapper or the box which the ceiling fan is contained. The star rating so displayed shall be verified by a certificate issued by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, certifying the accuracy of the rating displayed.
5. No person shall store, display, sell either wholesale or retail, offer for sale or distribute any ceiling fan specified in the Schedule hereto, whether imported into Sri Lanka or manufactured in Sri Lanka, which has affixed to the cover or to the wrapper or to the box in which the product contains, an energy label that does not comply with the requirement imposed by regulation 4 hereof.
6. Upon conviction of a person for the offence of failure to comply with the requirements imposed by regulations 2, 4 or 5 of these regulations pursuant to the provisions contained in the Act, the Authority shall be entitled in addition to the penalty imposed for the offence, to request the court imposing such penalty to make an order for the disposal or destruction, as the case may be, of the ceiling fans in relation to which the offence was committed and the procedure to be followed for such disposal or destruction. The Authority may also request that the said Order shall provide for the cost incurred in the disposal or the destruction of the same, to be borne by the person convicted.
7. In these regulations:-
"Act" means the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority Act, No. 35 of 2007;
"Authority" means the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority established by section 2 of the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority Act, No 35 of 2007; and
"Sri Lanka Standards Institution" means the Sri Lanka Standards Institution established by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution Act, No 6 of 1984.
Schedule
Any ceiling fan having two or more blades with sweep diameter 1400 mm and minimum of five regulator settings.
