This Pilot project entitled was created in order to study cross border power trade from Lao PDR to Singapore. It will serve as a pathfinder to complement existing efforts towards realizing the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) and the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), by creating opportunities for electricity trading beyond neighboring borders. This initiative will contribute towards energy security by strengthening the power integration network and enhancing the economic prosperity of the region. The project is also expected to help identify and resolve issues affecting cross – border electricity trading in ASEAN.
Energy Supply and Infrastructure
Cross-border energy infrastructure: 
the four countries will set up the LTMS PIP Working Group to study the technical viability of cross border power trade of up to 100 MW from Lao PDR to Singapore through existing interconnections. The working group is also expected to examine policy, regulatory, legal and commercial issues relating to cross border electricity trading. The completion of the pilot study is envisaged to illustrate the feasibility of cross border electricity trade among all four countries of Lao PDR, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
