The 9th Basic Plan for Power Supply and Demand aims to increase renewable energy share in the installed capacity to 40 per cent by 2034 from the current 15.1 per cent. The plan also calls for the closing of all coal-based power plants, whose 30-year operational life cycles expire by 2034. The Plan contains 15-year electricity supply and demand forecasts and electricity facility plans from 2020 to 2034. The main contents include: Evaluation of the previous plan; Long-term supply and demand forecast; Demand management goal; Power generation and transmission/substation facility plan; Expansion of distributed power supply; Greenhouse gas and fine dust reduction plan.
