Overall Summary: 
The Nature Conservation Law of the Republic of Tajikistan determines the principles of nature conservation developed with an aim to preserve natural resources and environment, support sustainable use and production of natural resources, prevention of harmful anthropogenic impacts on the environment, improvement of environment characteristics, strengthening the rule of law in related areas. The Law defines the jurisdiction of state bodies, human rights in regard to the area, economic instruments of environmental protection, issues of regulation of environmentally harmful influence, environmental standards of location, building, reconstruction of enterprises, buildings and entities, etc. ---- The Law on Nature Protection lost effect in 2011 with the adoption of Environmental Act of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Environment
Energy environmental priorities: 
Art. 4 of the Nature Conservation Law of the Republic of Tajikistan focuses on the initiatives to support the policy, regulatory and institutional mechanisms enabling environmental sustainability efforts. Key aspects of nature conservation and protection programs comprise creating favorable environmental conditions for people’s health, ensuring compliance with nature conservation legislation, increasing environmental transparency to reinforce the objective of environmental protection, strengthening international cooperation for meeting environmental targets and setting up collaborative environmental initiatives.
Governance
Energy institutional structures: 
Art. 8 defines priority areas of work for the Government of Tajikistan on environmental protection and the sustainable use of natural resources, coordination of environmental measures implemented by national authorities, establishing budget guidelines for nature conservation funds, developing environmental standards and norms (The set of environmental indicators includes environmental monitoring and licensing, pollution standards, etc.). -- Art. 13 articulates the objectives of environmental awareness and stipulates the right for complete and adequate information on air pollution, environmental conditions and characteristics of air, soil, forestry fund and water resources.
