Overall Summary: 
Law on Renewable Energy is the principle policy for governing renewable energy sector of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. The present Law is adopted by the Parliament to pursue policies for meeting binding targets of renewable energy sources (RES) development. The law stipulates measures to promote RES through national regulation, economic and organizational mechanisms, information system development, financial incentives, sustaining and strengthening energy statistics systems, monitoring and analysis. -- Article 3 of the Law defines the term renewable energy as a clean type of energy produced from renewable energy sources comprising the following types: a) solar, vacuum energy, earth energy, wind and water; b) non-fossil fuels and c) secondary heat.
Renewable Energy
RE priorities: 
The present Law encompasses measures to unleash the potential of renewable energy in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. National RES strategies prioritize the following areas a) off-grid systems and small RES generation units development in urban and rural areas; b) commercialization of solar technologies in heating, cooling, water supply; c) biogas units installation; d) establishment of service centers to provide RES related technical assistance.
RE feed-in tariffs: 
Feed-in tariff scheme will be applied to electricity generated from renewable sources of energy.
RE public awareness/promotional programmes: 
Art. 13 describes a variety of awareness-raising activities aiming at the development of renewable energy, including public campaigns for provision of information and fostering exchange on RES matters, sharing best practices, strengthening RES policy enforcement, training activities and technology exhibitions.
Governance
Energy management principles: 
Art. 8 specifies the responsibilities of national regulatory bodies and establishes regulatory principles for unconventional energy sources development. The law encourages regulatory efforts targeting development and application of renewable energy sources, thus, a wide scope of cross-cutting measures is implemented to fulfill the objectives of national energy sector sustainability. A comprehensive set of activities comprises the following scaling up renewable energy, ensuring energy security and environmental sustainability, investments attraction, awareness building, enhancing cross-sectoral cooperative initiatives on RES development, establishing regulatory frameworks and financial incentives.
Technology
R&D renewable energy: 
Art. 14. A set of policy instruments for accelerating research and development initiatives is proposed by the Law. The issues of technology-specific support for research and development, international cooperation on RES deployment, advancing RES technologies are brought to the fore. A relatively high priority is given to deployment and integration of clean energy technologies projects.
