Renewable Energy
RE priorities: 
During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, investigations should be done about the geothermal resources and utilization status in China, as well as the geological conditions, thermal storage characteristics of the main hydrothermal alteration area and shallow geothermal energy, the quality and quantity of geothermal resources[...] ---Main tasks: 1. Organize evaluation of the potential geothermal resources exploration; 2. Actively promote the hydrothermal geothermal heating; 3. Promote the use of shallow geothermal energy; 4. promote geothermal power generation project; 5. Strengthen the key technology research and development; 6. speed up the construction of statistics and monitoring information system; 7. build the industrial service system.
RE targets: 
During the "13th Five-Year" period, the surface of new geothermal heating (cooling) area will be 1.1 billion square meters, of which: new shallow geothermal heating (cooling) area 700 million square meters; new hydrothermal geothermal heating area 400 million Square meters. New geothermal power installed capacity will be 500 MW. By 2020, geothermal heating (cooling) area total surface will be 1.6 billion square meters, geothermal power installed capacity will be about 530 MW. By 2020, annual use of geothermal energy will be 70 million tce, annual geothermal heating will be 40 million tce. ---[...]During the 13th Five-Year Plan Period, orderly implement 400 MW installed capacity building works.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan, carry out hot dry rock geothermal energy developing programme, and implement hot dry rock geothermal demonstration projects. make a certain breakthrough on the dry hot rock geothermal energy development and utilization. ---Carry out high-temperature geothermal power generation projects in Tibet Autonomous Region and in the western part of Sichuan Province where high temperature geothermal resources are rich; and implement low-temperature geothermal power generation projects in North China, Jiangsu, Fujian and Guangdong Provinces.
