Overall Summary: 
The Revised Act on the Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures (Act No. 54 of 2021) updated some of the provisions of the Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures (Act No. 117 of 1998) (2006 Ed.). The Revised Act can be seen as part of a series of measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in response to the Paris Agreement, which was ratified by Japanese Government on November 8, 2016, as well as the 2050 Carbon Neutral Declaration made in the Prime Minister's policy speech at the 203rd Extraordinary Diet Session on October 26, 2020.

2. Promotion of global warming countermeasures is based on the provisions of Article 2.1 (a) of the Paris Agreement, environmental conservation and economics.
